Students often struggle with longer words, but with the right routines, they can confidently decode and spell multisyllabic words. In this session, educators will explore structured, research-based instructional routines that empower students to break down complex words into manageable parts. Participants will engage in hands-on activities that emphasize morphological awareness and phoneme-grapheme mapping to strengthen both decoding and encoding skills. Through explicit instruction and consistent practice routines, educators will leave equipped with tools to help students recognize patterns, apply strategies, and develop automaticity in reading and spelling multisyllabic words. No materials are needed for this session. This session is highly geared toward 2nd-3rd teachers, but all are welcome.
