About me
Hi everyone! I am Kathleen Pessini and this will be my 18th year of teaching. I taught 2 years in West Virginia and then taught 8 years at Hines Middle. I switched over to Virginia Beach at Lynnhaven Middle for 5 years and then decided I wanted to come back to Newport News. This is my 3rd year at Warwick High School. I teach IB History and AP Government.
While teaching middle school, I learned how to differentiate for all levels -for students who are struggling readers to those who read at college level. During my time at Lynnhaven Middle, I used Escape Boxes to review for tests and also to teach new material with the assistance of readings. I found that kids were highly engaged and it also teaches them to work as a team; something they have struggled with since Covid. I have taught 6th - US 1, 7th -US 2, 8th - Civics, AP US History, AP Government, IB History, and Government.
